Graduate student volunteer needed at Oak Park River Forest HS
Allison Hennings is an awesome Biology teacher at the Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park. Allison teaches an investigational research class that meets in the school library. Students in this class have gone on to win awards and even publish original research.
She’s looking for a grad student volunteer to work with high school students on original STEM research. The class meets M-Th, 11:37-12:25; help would be useful during class even once a week, though five times a week is ideal. A practicum student would absolutely be able to complete additional hours.
The adult would mentor students and assist them with:
- – locating articles
- – understanding and interpreting articles
- – planning
This class is so incredibly cool, and would give a grad student such an edge in academic research. Plus they’d get to work with Allison and with Ann Carlson, an amazing high school librarian (who has taught LIS classes and collaborates with Allison for this class).
